Lower Southampton Schoolyard Habitat#131
Lower Southampton Elementary is a registered National Wildlife Federation Schoolyard Habitat. The schoolyard habitat program is an example how our school is becoming involved in habitat protection and restoration. The enclosed courtyard serves as an outdoor classroom lab for programs such as Classroom Feeder Watch, and providing opportunities to connect with nature and the protection of the environment to meet Pennsylvania State Standards for Environment and Ecology. Students are able to take what they learn in school and apply these learned skills in creating a backyard habitat at home and other places in the community.
