Medication in School

If  your child requires medication to be given in school, please remember to ask you physician for a note.  A note is required for any medication to be given in school.

All medication given at school must be in the original container. If it is a a prescription medication, ask the pharmacist for an identical bottle for school. He will even measure out liquid medication for the amount of school days required. As a reminder, students are not permitted to transport medication to and from school.

Antibiotics that are ordered 3 times a day are usually not given at school. Antibiotics are most therapeutic if stretched out throughout the child’s waking hours.

If you think your child may require any over the counter medications during the school year (ie. Advil, Tylenol etc.) please make sure you get a doctor’s note. This is especially important for children who will require pain medication after going to the orthodontist.

As a reminder the Neshaminy School District’s Medication requires:

1.      A physician’s note which clearly states:
a.       Name of medication
b.      Amount of dosage
c.       Time medication is to be given
d.      Reason for prescribing medication

2.      Parent note giving permission to give above to their child.

3.      Medication waiver signed.
